UK Work Abroad Recruitment
After the Brexit implementation and due to Covid-19 lockdown and staff reductions about 1.3 million foreign workers have left the United Kingdom for good. New immigration and employer licensing requirements are limiting the ability of UK companies to replace those employees once the UK economy starts recovering after Covid-19 lockdowns and work restrictions.
APEX AV offers a sensitive staged recruiting and immigration process that allows UK companies to prepare for a labor shortage scenario well in advance. Our company is specialized in the recruitment and mobilization of qualified staff from Eastern Europe.
We cooperate with licensed UK immigration lawyers and governmental authorities to prepare the foundation for the successful recruitment of foreign labor from Eastern European countries.
UK Labour Market Challenges
European citizen working in the UK have the possibility to apply for temporary residence and work permit until 30 June 2021 but this right assumes that they are resident of the United Kingdom.
Foreign workers from the UK are in high demand in other European countries and we assume that many of the departed workforce will not come back to the UK. Also, new candidates from the EU will be hesitant to move to the UK due to uncertain residence and work permit rules.
On the other hand, UK companies are now not anymore bound to preferential recruitment from EU countries in comparison to third-country (none EU) nationals. The new visa and work permit rules allow equal treatment of EU and none-EU nationals in the work permit process for skilled workers.
The changes in immigration rules give UK companies much easier access to the Eastern European labor markets. Many UK companies are still on the wait and see mode when it comes to being prepared to cover for potential labor shortages and UK labor market competition.
At the beginning of 2020 only 16000 UK companies were registered as work permit sponsors. The number doubled during January 2021 to 36000 but there are still many companies without the necessary license and therefor without individual recruiting quotas.
